Ray lamp by llot llov

Woolen and warm, it gives soft, diffused light. Ray by llot llov is a very versatile lamp design, you can use it creatively: hang it, lay it on the floor, wrap 12 metres cord in decorative  loops and knots...

"Because of our love for old things, our fancy for the ordinary and our joy in finding new interpretations, every piece of our work bears llot llovs special signature. Our idea of design is multidimensional: we avoid the drawing of boundaries, setting our preference on the experimental. llot lov look at the world, take risks, learn, understand and interpolate the world in an illogical, intuitive and creative way."

Muffins by Lucie Koldova and Dan Yeffet

One more bulb-shape inspiration? Simple, very modern shape, oak wood base, hand blown glass. The style reminds me of Mid-Century furniture. Muffins ambient lights were designed by Dan Yeffet and Lucie Koldova. The series was launched during Designblok in October 2010. Manufactured by Brokis.

Pottinger + Cole

Pottinger + Cole is a multi-disciplinary design studio based in Wolverhampton, UK, established by Wayne Pottinger and Natalie Cole in 2005. The duo works on projects including furniture, lighting and product design. Their furniture gained a lot of publicity and has become easily recognizable. I'm not surprised: all the designs amaze with beautiful simplicity and a slightly humorous touch. Don't you love the geometric, strong siluettes?

New lightning designs from Yellow Goat

New custom lightning from Australian company Yellow Goat: "crazy but cool". Cutting edge designs in all varieties: exotic and sexy, classic and techno, eco and minimalist, anything you wish for. Whimsical and oversized, but immaculately crafted in the tiniest details. Dramatic, impressive and so beautiful that almost unreal!

Miyake lamp by Arihiro Miyake

Intriguing lamp design by Japanese Arihiro Miyake, where the balance has been reversed: the base has become the main interest point and the source of light seems very modest. The right angle can be adjusted by turning the polyhedron-shaped base. Less is definitely more...

Miyake lamp is produced by Moooi Netherlands.

Lamps: the naked bulb

What is the most popular design theme ever? I suppose it is not difficult to guess. But is the bulb itself a design icon? Endlessly transformed and tortured by designers all over the world. New lightning technologies couldn't have stop the process, the bulb only gained new incarnations. Inspiring?

Nika Zupanc

Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc creates intriguing everyday use objects. What makes them so different and interesting?

Not only the actual toys, like the car Konstantin, but also the lamps and sofas seem to be made to play with. All the "toys" are meant to seduce and awake our true selves: our inner children. “Emotional ergonomics”, this is how the designer defines the personal interaction concept between the users and the object.

"I was asking myself if we buy something because it’s functional, or simply because we like it on some emotional level?"

Nika Zupanc clashes our everyday true life with the inner images of ourselves and, what could seem impossible - binds the two realities together. The designs refer to stereotypes of feminity and masculinity, the girlish and the boyish clichés. Especially the feminine icons are present: innocent and seductive, both from flirtatious boudoir and boring kitchen.
