Tiuku clock by Ari Kanerva

Tiuku, minimalist incarnation of grandfather clock, was created by Finnish designer Ari Kanerva (Studio arka) in 2009. I does make me think of Salvador Dali. I wonder why?

Target Bookcase by Nendo

Nendo is a young Japanese design office based in Tokyo and Milan, established by Oki Sato in 2002. The company won several prestigious design awards.

'Target' is an extraordinary modular bookcase designed for Italian furniture manufacturer Arketipo. Nendo come up with new way of storage: instead of on standard horizontal shelves, books are placed on array of small crosses. The crosses work as bookends as well, allowing even thin magazines or a small number of books to stand on their own.
Once more I'm amazed how creative Japanese designs are: 'Target' bookcase is not only modular unit, it can be also used standing on any side.

Boy’s Lamp by Nika Zupanc

Boy’s Lamp, created by Slovenian designer Nika Zupanc, is a playful interpretation of a boyish soul. Fresh design with superb sense of humour that brings back childhood memories! "In the beginning it was conceived as a song about boyhood and manhood."

Lamp seems to be made to play with, like a toy: light intensity can be adjusted by winding up the nut screw and moving the lampshade lower or higher.

Boy’s Lamp lighting collection was designed for Slovenian lighting brand, Vertigo Bird

Doubleface and Doublefacette ceramics by Florian Hauswirth

Florian Hauswirth is a member of Postfossil group, a collective of ten young Swiss designers established in 2007. His 'Doubleface' vase won Wallpaper Design Award 2010 (Best domestic design).

The vase and the fruit bowl that belongs to the set are inspired by a mirrored silhouette. Both the vase and the bowl consist of two detachable parts, each made of different material (ceramic and cherry wood) The bottom of the fruit bowl bottom can be used as a cutting board, and ceramic part of the vase is easy to clean and change water.

'Doublefacette' salt and pepper set shares the same mirrored outline and material concept.
